Why Honeycomb Blinds Are the Smart Choice for Hobart Winters
Tasmania's winters are no joke. If you have single glazed windows (and most older Hobart homes do) you're losing a significant amount of heat straight through the glass. Honeycomb blinds are the most effective window covering solution for this problem.
The honeycomb cell structure traps a layer of still air between the blind and the glass. That air acts as insulation, slowing heat transfer in winter and keeping rooms cooler in summer. Independent testing shows a well fitted honeycomb blind can improve the insulation of a single glazed window by more than 35%.
We supply honeycomb blinds in both blockout and translucent fabrics, with single and double cell options. The double cell provides even greater insulation for particularly cold rooms or south facing windows. Most can also be motorised for convenience. If you're heating your home and watching the warmth disappear through your windows, it's worth a conversation.

Plantation Shutters in a Heritage Kingston Home
One of the most rewarding jobs we do is fitting plantation shutters into older homes. There's something about the clean lines of a shutter against original timber floors and high ceilings that just works it feels like it belongs there rather than being added on.
We recently completed a full plantation shutter installation at a heritage property in Kingston. The challenge with older homes is that no window is perfectly square. Years of settlement mean frames shift, and off the shelf shutters simply won't fit. Everything we supply from the Norman Australia range is custom made to your exact window measurements, which is what makes the difference.
The result was a home that looks like the shutters were always there. That's the goal. If you're in Kingston or the surrounding area and thinking about plantation shutters for an older property, we're very familiar with the specific challenges involved. Give us a call.
